Smell

Hi all, Question for the new mamas who have over hang belly. How do you take care of your incision area? Do you give it a lots of air? How do you clean it? Is it normal for bit of smell? I am 5 week PP. Area around the incision area was very sore and started to smell so I went to triage. I could see bit of juice coming out of the small area. Dr said I have an infection so prescribed me antibiotics ( i must say it was horrible to take 4 times a day on empty stomach). I finished the antibiotics. I have a over hang belly and noticed that the smelly liquid is still there. I shower everyday and wash around my incision area. I am feeling great physically. I am not sure if its something that i should call my GP for.

If it hasn’t gone away you should definitely follow up with the GP or health visitor

I used to just try let water run over it, pat dry then use a hand held fan to fully dry. I hope it heals for you soon!

7 months PP and it still feels very odd and gets sweaty a lot. I make sure to bathe and then hair dryer it on a cool setting to make sure it’s clean and properly dry every day

Get yourself a loofa and pour the soap on it and gently wash ur incision. If it’s infected only use loofa for that area. Make sure u rinse it off really well and dry very well Leave ur incision to also air dry so hold ur belly up in front of a fan. Also make sure ur drinking lots of water too! Helps to heal your body by stay in hydrated
