C section

I think my c section site is infected(redness above and below the site and quite sore. It’s the weekend and the gp is obviously shut until Monday. Is this something I need to ring triage about now? (Even though it’s 9.20pm at night or can I wait till Monday?)I’ve been signed off the care of midwives and I doubt my HV will reply to me at this time. I’m unsure if this is classed as an ‘emergency’ or not? Thanks ☺️

You’d need to call 111 - look out for any sign of pus, odour and if you have a temperature etc. They’d send you an OOH GP who can assess and tell you more. HV unless an experienced midwife would probably only be able to take a look but would equally signpost you to your GP.

I'm currently sat in a&e for my C-section scar oozing...I'm 16days post and also been discharged. 111 sent me here annoyingly as can only be dealt with here over the weekend! I would act on it asap if you have any concerns x

If you experience flu like symptoms, I'd definitely phone triage. I had a wound infection after some of the stitches were taken out on day 7 and I ended up being hospitalised for 5 days on IV antibiotics, so definitely get it checked if you're worried about it or its changed at all!

Thanks everyone ☺️ I called maternity triage and they have just seen me and prescribed me antibiotics x

That's so good that they saw you there! I've been prescribed antibiotics as well, hopefully they work x
