Elective C-section

Can I request for elective section or they don’t allow? I have high risk pregnancy with loads of anxiety, so I want to go for something planned.

You can request. I don't know what country you're from, but if you're in the US make sure to check with your insurance about how much they will cover if it's not deemed medically necessary.

If you are in the UK then yes. It is your right to decide what kind of birth you like and even if you don’t have a high risk pregnancy it is still your choice. I had a high risk pregnancy and anxiety and I chose to have an elective c section. If you choose to go ahead with a c section you will have an appointment with a consultant (who will try and advise you against having one BUT will tell you that it is still your choice) I have a friend who decided a c section was best for her and wasn’t a high risk pregnancy and she had a successful one :)

Thank you so much ladies. Really appreciate your advices.I am in the UK

I believe you can request a planned csection, you just gave to be at least 39 weeks. Good luck!

Yes you can request

@Hayley I work in the NHS and you’re completely correct - it used to be that they’d try to discourage you but they now just tell you the pros and cons. It’s personal choice and your service provider is obliged to honour your choice. Even if you went into labour early, you can still have a section when you get to hospital (although I’d ring the second you feel a contraction to avoid problems). Xx
