Elective C section or vaginal birth

I’m really struggling to make a decision on which birth I want. I’m 50/50 right now but curious to hear both opinions please!

1st baby - Attempt vaginal. As nature intended. And providing you haven’t any health risks. 2nd + baby - Depends on previous birth(s) What baby is this? Have you spoken to your midwife about this?

It really depends on why you want a C-section? Breaking it down, its invasive, risky and a long road to recovery which has long lasting health implications (however, that does not mean that a vaginal birth won't lead to any of that either!) Why do you want a section? Is this your first baby? Is there a health condition you have concerns over? Is there a benefit to a section over a natural birth, specifically for you?

If I had any risk factors which meant likely end in c section I personally would just choose elective. If there’s no risks I’d go vaginal. Saying that I had a low risk pregnancy relatively good labour (despite having sepsis) yet her heart rate stopped so ended up with general anaesthetic c section. This time I have no choice but I would have gone for elective even if I did.

I’m having twins, and @ first antenatal appt Consultant said C section. Then I went for another appt for wks ago, & midwife said @ antenatal clinic I could try naturally. To be honest, I’d rather the c section than natural. Why? Baby 1 could come out fine, no issues. But if Baby 2 decides nah ain’t coming out, still end up with having an emergency c section. So figured c section better option. I’ll be prepared mentally as well, & hopefully it should be a calm & safe delivery of them both.

I had vaginal first and I’m going elective this time . I wish i went section the first time. I have spoken to a few professionals and they have told me it is soooo rare for vaginal births to go smoothly especially is it is the first baby.

2nd baby for me - first went emergency c section due to failed induction and this time round I’m going for a VBAC. Got to remember a c section isn’t without its risks either! Make informed decisions and do research around both 😀

I’ve booked for an elective section. I have a lot of nerves about vaginal and out of everyone I know who’s tried natural, they all ended in emergency. This makes me feel less stressed of what complications might happen
