C Section essentials?

If my little man hasn’t arrived by Monday we will be booking a C Section for next week, just curious as to people’s essential recommendations for those that have already had their babies!? Want to get prepared for his sunroof arrival 😁

I had the emergency c section and of course came in with my bag prepared for vaginal. All i used were pads, disposable underwear, robe, slippers and some snacks for later on 😅 and the rest of course clothes for the baby and all the essentials. Colostrum would be useful if you managed to collect and if not, some premade formula as the hospital I been to did not provide and my partner had to go and buy - baby had issues to latch and the milk supply after birth can be unpredictable. I didn’t have strength for shower in the hospital and first few hours you have no feeling in your legs. Stayed only 24hrs after birth anyways. You can also discuss with the midwife perhaps?

High-waisted disposable underwear/ maternity underwear. All clothes highwaisted, nighties and dresses ideal so you don’t have to bend to put them on. Lactoluse, your hospital will likely provide it but check with your midwife just in case. Flip flops and robe for showering. And the only thing I’d say is don’t take a suitcase as bending to open it or trying to lift it won’t be possible for the first few days x

They “clear you out” mostly with c section so very limited bleeding. This may be different if you attempt a natural birth first! I packed for England! Didn’t need hardly any of it! Would advise that you pack 0-1month and not just 0-3 month as they got it very wrong with my babe! High waisted pants and some super night pads will do! Thin dressing gown and button down night dress, a nursing bra. My essential was extra pillows. Like bed pillows - nothing special. So you can rearrange yourself in bed. Flip flops and a good partner to help you wash after - feels like you are attempting the impossible but it really does make a difference with how you are feeling. Knitted hat for babe to bring in to the theatre. Nappies and wipes. If I were to pack again, it would literally be a rucksack and a bag of pillows! Bring a couple of pre-made formulas if your hospital doesn’t provide and even if you are looking to breastfeed. You may need to top up as babe can be dehydrated from a c sec x

Thanks for your recommendations ladies! I’m fortunate my partner is an absolute angel and is allowed to stay the entire time which is a relief so I’ll have him to do all the bending and helping ahah. Definitely taking note of the high waisted suggestion! Thanks all xxx
