C-section Uncertainty

Sorry but need to share this with someone who may have had a similar experience. Had a growth scan when I was almost 37 weeks, followed by a consultant appointment where I was supposed to book a c-section. The consultant pointed the c-section should have been booked 7 weeks before my due date and by that point, everything was already booked for the date I needed so she would see what she could do. Nobody told us we had to book the c-section that in advance and we were a bit disappointed. They finally called back saying it will be next Monday and tomorrow I am having my pre-op. Never confirmed a time until a few minutes ago, they want me to be there on Monday at 12pm and depending on how things are on the day my c-section may happen or not. I understand emergencies happen but I don’t really feel like going to the hospital everyday next week until there’s a spot for me, all because my c-section wasn’t booked on time. Has anyone experienced something similar and how long did you have to wait? Feeling a bit anxious at the moment 😕

Saw this a lot on one born every minute. Scheduled C-sections are the last priority, but you are there waiting so they can get you in and out quick. There was one episode where a lady had anxiety about waiting in hospital due to her last c section needing to wait all day and being NBM all day too to boot. It seemed like they always got them in that day though. Did they say it was a possibility that you could go back in multiple days in a row?

I asked and they said that is always a possibility of that happening. The last time I went there for a midwife appointment there was this lady who was scheduled the day before and she had to go back the day after as it didn’t happen. The mums in my group that were scheduled beforehand had to be there at 7am, that’s why 12pm seems late to me and makes me think I may be an extra

It can happen but very unlikely to! Speaking operationally, they want to make sure that the bed flow is maintained. Also clinically, if they had concerns for an early delivery, it will be just that! I know that this is hard! I have gone through it a week ago! But I was NBM for a day, then ate at night and was seen the next day at 10am. No sweat! I will send you these good vibes!!!! Xxx
