Milk allergy?? Reflux??

Hello! My baby girl is 6 weeks old and for the last 3 weeks pretty much she has been so unsettled. The past 2 weeks especially the screaming and crying has reached new levels. She’ll go bright red in the face when shes thrashing her legs about almost like she’s trying to push out a poo and it hurts her. Shes been on laxatives now and even though they do get the poo out she can only have them once a day and that few hours period before having them shes screaming crying. Shes breast fed and sometimes when shes getting this pain wherever it is shes pulling on my nipple and squealing. Doctors say its constipation but im not sure if its a dairy intolerance shes getting through my breast milk im just at a loss. She doesnt throw up or spit up much at all. We try bicycle legs we rub her belly weve tried baths everything. Shes burps a couple times but id assume she doesnt get much wind when shes on breast. Shes such a happy smiley baby usually and my heart breaks seeing her in so much pain and nothing really consoles it unless we cuddle her for atleast 30 mins to settle her down. As you can imagine the night times are awful. Can anyone give me some advice🥲 🩷

My first born had a CMPA and was similar to what you describe. But she was combi fed. I believe it’s very small amounts that actually reach the baby through the breast milk, but I could be wrong. Along with though, my daughter had cold like symptoms and a rash that pretty much covered her x

I feel you! My second baby has a potential lactose intolerance from my breast milk. I would definitely trial going dairy free for a week and see if it helps bub. If it doesn't, move on to something else. My child health nurse told me to trial being dairy free, so I'll see how it goes. My baby does exactly the same thing as you're describing, red face, screaming/crying and pulling her legs to her chest and she only ever does it after a feed. I've been dairy free for only 1 day and baby is already slightly more settled after feeding so it might be working.

My first baby had problems with constipation and ended up always having a bit of a slow digestive system for the first 6 months (for 3-4 months he only had poos every 10-14 days) but he grew out of it. I think it was that his system wasn't developed well yet. It was hard seeing him in so much discomfort but there wasn't anything to do- probably lasted 2 months. Hopefully your little one resolved quickly or you find a cause.

@May awe it’s awful to watch isn’t it 🥲 the thing is she’s never doing it really after a feed. She might do it during but it’s almost like something has just really hurt her inside her belly and then she squeals. But she does that all day not just during feeds. And tbh i don’t even eat really. I’ve not had a good appetite since the c section the only milk i can think i get is the tiniest amount of semi skimmed in one cuppa i have🤣 hopefully we’re going back to the doctors today to get some answers xx

Thanks for the advice ladies xx
