Tongue tie

Anyone else’s baba got a tongue tie? My little boy has one just like my little girl had and we had to get this cut through a private clinic. Little man is feeding good having 120ml every 3 hours but is so noisy during feeds and there’s also a slight clicking noise when he drinks. I’m in two minds as to whether or not to get it done, as I’m worried regarding him talking in the future if it’ll affect his speech or not, anyone else struggling to come to a decision?

Yes - our first born did and our September baby also does. We have a referral to get it corrected through the NHS this week when she will be 12 days old

Yup, our first and new baby does. We had our first ones cut as it was severe. This one seems less but my brother had speech delays because of his so would prefer to get it done when she is super tiny to avoid other things down the line, we are getting it done this Thursday. Xx

My little boy had a severe one and we had it cut last week. I don't regret it at all and he has been much better with a dummy and feeding since. He wasn't able to poke his tongue out beforehand and now he has much more mobility which is lovely for him.

@Kate where are you going to get it done please? My midwife said nhs won’t do it so will have to private xx

Not sure where you are based but we had our first down privately in West Yorkshire https://milkmatters.org.uk

I’m getting it done via NHS. At the hospital where my baby was born. They also offered it at the other hospital my first was born, they 100% do offer it. Not sure where you are based but the first time we went here and they were wonderful as the hospital had a very long waitlist and her tie was severe so needed it done asap. https://www.thetonguetiecentre.org We did go to a private osteopath as the tongue tie caused lots of tension in her jaw neck and shoulders and that was also VERY worth it in terms of getting her little body stretched and relaxed which helped sleep, eating and digestion
