Nursery

Hi, I’m a little confused about nursery starts, so I read up somewhere that when they turn 2 their entitled to 15 free hours, even if your on benefits, I don’t currently work due to health issues I’m on universal credit and high rate PIP, I have tried looking into this online to apply for the 15 free hours but I don’t know how to do it, this is my first child so I’m useless I don’t have a clue, can anyone help or advice me further? Thank you:)

I believe from 9months/2 it's only for working parents it's just from 3 it's for everyone. I'm not sure how it works for PIP. Though

You should be able to apply on your local councils website. It will give you a temporary code you can give to the nursery and then once they’ve reviewed your application you’ll get an email if it’s approved or not. I think the code would be the same but could be different to the temporary one you’re given. However if your little one turned 2 after the term started then their funding doesn’t kick in until the next term (January). Hope that’s helped! X

Yes, as above it’s through the council for low income families now, should give you a link through gov website

The 15 free hours is for two working parents who earn a particular amount of money. However this scheme may be for you: https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/free-childcare-2-year-olds-claim-benefits

I’m on UC and my son has 15 hours free! I had to apply via my council website x
