Recurring miscarriage

I've just had my 3rd this year. Being referred to gynaecology so no idea. Following along to get some insight too x

@Chrissie I’ve had two back to back losses, I’m 5 weeks now but given the last two I’m really not hopeful. GP said if this one doesn’t stick around she’ll refer me on. X

Generally the first port of call is a round of bloods to check for any thing such as autoimmune conditions e.g. lupus that can lead to recurrent miscarriage. Then it would be an internal physical examination. Has the doctor offered you progesterone?

@Elle my GP herself hasn’t she hasn’t even done bloods but maybe I should push to request them, she’s basically just rigidly gone by NHS guidelines and said that if this one doesn’t stick and it being my third in a row she’ll refer me on 😣🙄

I've had 4 losses but one was a Tr18, my doctor had given me loads of blood tests and a pelvic scan , and referred me to a fertility specialist. Because of the waiting time (8 months) she spoke to the fertility specialist and asked what more bloods she could do to speed things along. I had bloods done at the hospital and they have found out I have Factor v leiden which is a blood mutation that can cause miscarriage. I then had to wait to get a BFP to then have progrestone, aspirin and something else I have to injection in to my stomach once a day prescribed. And I also take folic acid and vitamin d. I found out last week I'm pregnant so just started taking all the medication, I'm not sure if this will help me have a successful pregnancy, but I feel slightly less anxious as I'm being treated for something that causes recurring miscarriage. Fertility specialist (I think some) don't class chemical as a loss, so my doctor told her my two chemicals were miscarriages and didn't use the word chemical.

Thank you, I really pushed my doctors. My first appointment I just cried as I said noone was taking me seriously and I wanted some answers, she then agreed and I had as many tests she could do. I also requested to see if I ovulated so did a blood for that so don't be afraid to go in to the doctor with your own research. I also called Tommy's for support and guidance on next steps who were also amazing x

I had two back to back losses in the span of 4 months. They referred me to a specialist at my loca epu. They took blood to check my thyroid, vitamin d level and anemia and did a pelvic exam to check uterus, ovaries etc - all looking perfect. After my second period in a couple of months they will do another blood test to check for blood clots, if that comes back clear I am free to ttc again. They have already prescribed me progesterone and aspirin for when I get pregnant again, luckily it didn’t take us long both times so hoping it will help me stay pregnant this time - third time’s a charm hopefully! I recently got referred from my GP after the unlucky #3 loss. I waited 6 weeks for the NHS to give me an appointment and when the letter came through it said my appointment date was June 2025!! I was in complete shock and felt so upset about the whole thing. Especially as I have private medical cover and tried to submit a claim through that was rejected (I do know someone else that had a successful claim for this). I went back to my GP and said I absolutely cannot wait for almost a year to progress this! The GP said they would go back to the RM clinic and ask for my appointment to be extradited and that worked and I was able to get seen recently. The tests carried out were blood tests and a scan and I’ve also been prescribed progesterone for my next pregnancy 🤞🏼 I get the impression that it’s a bit of a postcode lottery. But if your GP is helpful, then absolutely go back to them if you need to.
