Vitamins - Breastfeeding

Im about to run out of my pregnancy vitamins but still have another couple of weeks to due date. I assume it would be ok to switch to postnatal vitamins, so long as they have folic acid? What vitamins do you plan to take after giving birth? I’m hoping to breastfeed so perhaps that makes a difference.

You don’t need folic acid after 12 weeks so just take a vitamin d supplement and that’s all you need. I didn’t take any supplements post partum with my first, you just give them vitamin d drops if they are breastfed

Yes you should be fine as long as they don’t have vitamin A. They don’t tend to be that different tbh, or certainly the pregnacare ones aren’t. I took pregnacare for my first pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding but have been taking active iron this time as have found the extra iron helps with tiredness.

Thanks yeah I figured the pregnancy targeted ones are a bit of a con but used Pregnacare to help conceive so just carried on.

I use Cytoplan’s Pregna-plan multi vitamins. I’ve Used them for conception, pregnancy and will continue when breastfeeding. They are a little pricey but they’re pretty good and you don’t have to change up to different ones if you don’t want to
