That’s amazing, might be a silly question but how do you do it? And why do we do it? Went to a class tonight and missed all the breast feeding part as I had a funny turn and nearly fainted so don’t have a clue xx

Wow that’s amazing!! I started yesterday and have only been getting 0.2ml at a time at the most x

@Jasmine it’s advised you can express from 36/37 weeks and keep it in the freezer for when baby is born. so if baby struggles to latch or feed, you can defrost the colostrum and feed it to baby so they’re still getting your breastmilk. if baby ends up latching and feeding well, you can also use colostrum for things like baby acne, eczema, eye infections etc as it contains antibodies and can help with healing! all in all it’s liquid gold that can be used for so many things! colostrum is very very rich in antibodies, fat that baby needs to thrive and lots of nutrients - but we only produce colostrum at the end of pregnancy and in the first few days after birth. after this period, the milk “matures” into the white milk we usually see and it’s spread across larger volumes. so it’s good to collect it when you can as the small volumes of it contain so much x

@Rachel i think i’m producing more because i breastfed my first so my body has done it before! but i was the same in my first pregnancy, only got small amounts xx

Well done. The most I got in 1 session is 5ml. I currently have 36 syringes in the freezer ready for little man coming. So amazing what our bodies can do xxx

I’m lucky to get 1ml at a time and I find it painful. How often do you do it?

@Rachel just once every night, i get myself comfy in bed, massage them for 5 mins each and take my time. make sure you’re not just squeezing your nipple but the breast/areola mainly x

So, Awesome!!! I’ve never done this and thinking about trying. Where do you get the syringes from?

@Anima🪷 i got mine from amazon but you can also ask your midwife/OB for some☺️ just make sure they’re sterile and have the caps x

This is really impressive. I only got 0.5ml last night! Did you collect it in anything before you collected it in the syringe?

@Lydia i expressed into the lid from a mam bottle (sterilised of course) and then syringed it up x

Very clever!
