Misscarage insights please!

Hi everyone- I recently found out I’m having a miscarriage at about 8 weeks so I’m taking misoprotosol today since I’ve already had cramping and bleeding. First miscarriage. I would really appreciate any tips or words of advice you can share 🙏 obviously pretty terrified.

First bit of advice you will get through this and I’m sorry you are going through this. I’m going to be very honest and tell you what I experienced. The whole process is exhausting and extremely painful. Make sure you have good maternity pads, puppy pads or towel to put on your bed and floor. I used Lil-lets maternity pads as they have wings. There will be lots of blood especially just before, as you pass and about two hours after. Make sure you are not alone, as you can faint/get very dizzy as the pregnancy passes. Your blood pressure drops as it passes. Try to eat and stay hydrated, avoid fizzy drinks. Make sure you have taken and keep on top of the meds, as the cramping can be like contraction and get more painful and regular as the pregnancy passes. The cramp will last for about 24hours on and off. You can also get a secondary heavy bleed a few days later. I had a lot of pressure about 4 days after and passes a clot the size of a lemon and had another heavy bleed.

Hi Ashley, I'm so sorry to hear that, that's awful. I don't know if I was the exception to the rule, but mine wasn't like Rebecca's at all. I had mine at 9wk3d, and I had cramping and some pain, but really not that bad, and only before the pregnancy passed. It was worse than bad period pain but not that bad, and not for that long. Yes there was a fair amount of blood but normal pads were fine for me and I didn't need any for the bed or floor. My pregnancy tissue passed when I went to the toilet, which while confronting and obviously heartbreaking, I was pleased I didn't have to see it. The emotional side was harder. The first week or two I was very low and very tearful. But I was actually very low until I got my next period (they were tracking my HCG hormones down to 0 and then my period came). As soon as my period came my mid lifted considerably. So if you do feel depressed, please know it's probably in part to do with that and you will feel better soon. Look after yourself x

I did have mine at 11+4 weeks. I probably had a lot more tissue to pass and a bigger yolk sac to pass.

I’m sooo sorry 🙏 it’s a tough time but you will get through it.

Thank you so much for the responses. It really helped. It ended up not being that awful - tho Still terrible, much like your @Georgina Wilkinson. It passed early last night but I’m still Having bleeding, more than a period and have to change my pads pretty regularly still. Did anyone have bleeding that continued thru the next day? Was under the impressing that it was supposed lightened up - tho it’s not as bad as it was beforehand. 🙏

@Ashley 🥺 awful thing to go through. I hope you're OK lovely. Glad the messages helped. My bleeding probably did lighten a little but the next day, but i didn't stop bleeding for 7-10 days. If you think it is like a period but more - a period usually lasts 5 days ish, and there is obviously more for your body to expel. I had to have a scan to check that the MC was complete and there was no tissue left (which was the case). If you haven't already it would be good to speak with your doctor as they may want you to do the same, esp if heavy bleeding continues as that can be a sign there is still tissue remaining. Stay strong x
