Words

How many words are your little ones saying. Mine is 18 months next week and can say about 10 words. I'm just a little worried because everyone else we know with little ones a similar age are saying more. Are we behind? Should I be doing more to help develop her speech or is this one of those "she will get there in her own time" kinda things. There is A LOT of babbling and what sounds like the start or words just very few actual words yet. Also she does mimic a lot of words when we've said them over and over again in a short space of time, but then it will only be said the once before she moves on and doesn't say it again

Same here, around 7 words and a few animal sounds. See someone saying theirs did the alphabet ect the other day 😂 made me feel like shite haha! Xx

Same and yes the alphabets and counting to ten. And I just had a panic attack lol. 😭

My daughter is 17 months tomorrow and saying around 50 words and some sentences However I know children aged 2/3 who can only say a few words and sentences I wouldn’t worry too much about it honestly, every child is different and develop in different stages xx

Says ‘duh’ for duck. Not much else. But his receptive language is great and he understands most of what I say.. not worried in the slightest. They’ll be talking so much soon!

so mine can say next to nothing 😂😂 mama, tweet for a bird meow for a cat…i was worried but then i watched her and actually her communication and understanding is much higher than her big brother who doesn’t stop talking now…il see where we are at for her 2 year review but at the moment there is so much going on some speak some communicate other ways so don’t worry

@Katie Norris glad I'm not alone in this 😂, every time I see something about them counting to 10 ect I start worrying. X

@Sarah thanks. It is just hard, as she is the first having nothing to compare or experience too you just see how others are around a similar age and makes me question things

Defo not behind . My boy is yet to say a word
