Sleep

Looking for some advice with my little one. He goes to sleep on us and as soon as we put him in the cot he wakes up and cries. He is like it during the day and night. We are getting next to no sleep.

Do you have a next to me? We got ours to sleep in there at first by laying down with her in our bed holding her to sleep and then literally sliding her across into the next to me and keeping my hand on her until she was in a deeper sleep. We also used hot water bottles at first to heat her bed, she's in a sleeping bag and we use ewan dream sheep. Now at 11 weeks she goes down fine we just sometimes put our hand on her tummy if she's struggling to settle. Every baby is different it's just trial and error sometimes!

@Ruby yes we do have a next to me crib. Ok will try those things thank you ☺️ we did try Ewan but it didn’t work. He doesn’t take to white noise or lullabies. May try the sleeping bag as he is also 11 weeks old now

We occasionally put our baby in his next to me crib during awake windows for short periods when he’s happy, not with the expectation of sleep (play with them in there), but to get him comfortable and familiar with it, and whilst it’s not an instant fix, we believe it’s helped.

I really do feel your pain as this was me up until a couple of weeks ago. It turns out she had silent reflux and a cows milk allergy (combi fed). I started her on dentinox which made a difference to her lower gas. Then I went to the GP and got prescription formula (I just had a feeling it was the formula). She is like a changed baby now - she sleeps in her cot for naps and bedtime. I’d been told that some babies just won’t sleep in the cot but I felt there was more to it than that. Might be worth looking into if you’re tried everything else (trust me I tried literally everything and nothing worked). Good luck x

Same so we’re cosleeping for now. Under 3 months is still the fourth trimester and some of them really just need the closeness. At 3 months I’m going to transition her over to the next to me which will require a bit of training. Preparing myself for a couple really bad nights but it will be worth it.

You could try gently warming the crib with a hot water bottle before she goes down and putting a top of yours in her next to me as a bed sheet as then she’ll smell you and may settle 🥰

@Katie what were the symptoms of CMPA? And have you had anything for the reflux?
