Newborn not waking to feed

My son was born on the 22nd and so is on day 2ish. He is sleeping through feeds. I have to wake him every 2/3 hours to feed otherwise he would just carry on sleeping. Is this normal and something he will grow out of soon?

Yes it’s normal

Could also be a symptom of newborn jaundice so look out for that x

Yeah and especially if he wakes up fine for the feeds as well that’s really normal. But when mine was 1/2 days old I got myself really worked up and rang triage crying because he wouldn’t wake up enough to eat no matter what I did I changed his nappy tickled him moved him around was loud stripped him off dressed him again you name it, and he went 6 hrs without waking up enough to feed. But triage said that they’re so tired from the birth still for a couple of days that it was normal for them to be so sleepy and that as long as they’re doing the right amount of poos/wees then he was good. As long as they end up getting 8-12 feeds in 24hrs following that second day it doesn’t matter if some of them you’ve needed to wake them for :)

Yeah I remember with my girl she was so hard to wake to feed the first few days. Midwife said to literally undress her and tickle her to wake up x

My son slept through for feeds the first few days and we’d have to wake him for them. He did have jaundice not sure if that contributed and he was difficult to wake. Eventually he started waking every 4-6 hours, but started sleeping through the night again 6 weeks. Always been a good sleeper
