Swaddle Transition

Mamas! How did you transition your baby out of a swaddle? My LO is 4 months and showed no interest in rolling back to belly but all of a sudden did it on Sunday and can’t be stopped. We stopped swaddling Sunday night and tried just a sleep sack and it went awful. He ate his hands the entire night and when he wasn’t doing that, he was swinging his arms and legs everywhere! Last night we tried the magic marlin sleep suit but that also did not go good. HELP!

My little one naturally got out of it and he’s always pretty much been able to roll onto his side, but he definitely prefers belly sleeping, which I think really helps with the kicking and hand chewing, hi I haven’t try to sleep sack but I’m pretty sure it’s very similar to swaddling just a loose in arms are free

Oh man this happened to me! My son flipped over one day during nap time and I got him a sac, he wouldn’t stop startling himself. And then he would wake up every 2 hours, I think it jump stared the sleep regression. But he’s kinda just grew out of waking up from startling. He still does it but sometimes he sleeps through it

Unfortunately this is why swaddles really shouldn’t be used. Babies need to be able to experience the startle reflex so they get used to their new environment and body. They have become so popular but they are very overrated. I didn’t know this at first so we started with swaddling too but I was able to start transitioning him out of it before he was rolling so we didn’t have any issues. I was going to suggest the Merlin sleep suit as well but if yours is already rolling over in that too then you may need to just stick to the sleep sack and hope they adjust quickly! I’m sorry!

We’re in the same boat. He randomly started trying rolling back to front Sunday so we had to take his swaddle off him cold turkey. We tried a transitional swaddle and it makes no difference. So I’ve had several nights now of sleepless newborn hell. He’s hard to put down, doesn’t sleep for longer than 2 hours, and it’s a nightmare 😩

WOAH! Your 4 MO rolls to their belly from back?!??

I would just try regular pjs
