I always put £30-£35 in a time because it will last me a couple of weeks.
I don’t pump gas, but if I did I’d just leave it? It’s not like you’re not used to doing it with all other purchases? Not to mention it’s so easy to go okay 24.97 24.98 24.99 25.01. I’m not doing it again. Nah. Hard pass.
We just wait until it turns off. Unless we have 0 money and we need to just be able to get somewhere then we will do a few dollars but normally we just wait till shut off
We have electric cars so don’t pump gas. But I have a weird thing of needing everything to be even or a whole number 😆. So when I did pump gas it was always going to be a whole dollar amount.
I always tell my husband if he can get 20.00 exactly, he can get laid
You don't need to balance you checkbook anymore because youde be paying with card...which would automatically come out of your account. Unless you do cash. Just leave it in till it shuts off or pay a fast rate with cash.
@Morgan I will say that was her answer like 20 years ago when you had to keep track of all your card purchases in the checkbook 😂 not sure what the excuse is now probably just habit
Honestly, I just let the pump do its thing and don't even think about hitting an exact number. I mean, it's not like you can round up your grocery bill, right? So why stress about gas? I get where your mom’s coming from with balancing the checkbook, but with everything being digital now, it just doesn’t feel necessary. I’m all about filling it up and moving on!
Who balances a check book anymore? Get a budget and any “excess” money move to savings. If you need to keep receipts put them in envelopes and use cash or different cards for different purposes more often if you’re worried about fraud.
Sometimes I select the approved $ amount for more than I will buy so it shuts off when full, other times I get points promotions if I buy $40 at a time so I do that instead, or purposely don't fill up so my husband pays lol
I always put it in and let it stop when it's full. You can actually put air into your gas tank and lines if you press it to get the exact number you want.
It depends. My mom pays cash, so she’ll give $20-$25 to the cashier and the pump stops when the limit is hit. My husband pays with card at the pumps, so he just goes until it clicks off. But on a separate note, I DO over pay on bills so that it’s even numbers, so I kinda get what your mom means.
