Breastfeeding personal question

Hey y’all. So I have my girls pierced and I wasn’t sure how to go about breastfeeding and having them in. I’ve been told I can pump and have them in but I’ve been told I can’t so I wasn’t sure what to do with them. I’m also intimidated to take them out because I’m scared I can’t line them up and the holes close. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I would talk to your ob about that

I don’t have them pierced, never have but as a breastfeeding and pumping mama. A pump that’s the correct flange size won’t fit over a piercing. So you won’t get maximal output when pumping. Also the piercing will make the milk pumped not sterile. Breastfeeding with them in also wouldn’t be an option as baby wouldn’t be able to latch. I think if you really want to try breastfeeding/pumping your best bet is to take them out and repierce after your journey has finished. It’s already hard enough as it is in those first few months.

From my understanding (from books, no personal knowledge) you just need to take out the piercing while ACTIVELY breastfeeding.

I’m with Hannah- don’t have them but I do pump and breastfeed and I’m sitting here trying to figure out how a pump flange that’s your nipple size could go over a piercing also 🤔

I had to take mine out. If you try pumping with them in (in my opinion) if feels like they're slowly being ripped out of your nipple with the pumps suction. I attempted to take them out while pumping and put them back in after but had no luck doing so.
