Breastfeeding Mummas - How often are you feeding now?

I can't believe we're almost 12 months in!! I'm keen to start slowly introducing cows milk in with her breast milk in a few weeks time. Just wondering how often you are feeding your little ones now? I still do a morning, evening and 2-3 day feeds eventhough she is eating 3 meals a day plus snacks. Have you tried to drop any feeds?

A couple of weeks ago we were on 5-6 feeds a day but saw health visitor for 10-12 month review and she said it was too much and to try to get him down to 2-3 feeds a day. I didn’t really take much notice but thought maybe I’ll try distracting him for just one feed and see how he goes. We’re down to 3-4 feeds in 24 hours now I’d say. He didn’t seem bothered and is eating really well (was eating really well before anyway). Distraction is my main tactic to be honest. If he kept on at me though I would give in because I don’t really believe in taking it away when he really does enjoy it. X

You are doing well to get down to that. I’ve managed to cut out the mid morning feed and stopped feeding to sleep for morning and afternoon nap. But she wants milk when she wakes in the afternoon (sometimes twice), then bedtime, overnight and the morning one. My problem is thinking of snacks to give by the time I get to the afternoon I’m tired and can’t think. It’s just so easy to whip a boob out and be able to sit down. I need to get rid of the afternoon ones as I’m back at work 2 weeks today. Not great to be doing this when it’s half term next week 😬. I might have to introduce cows milk a little early to get me through the switch and half term. She’s 1 in 2 weeks I don’t think much can change for her now xx

I still do 4 during day and 3 at night ! Health visitor said not to worry , as breastfeeding helps her as long as she is still getting solid foods too ! No one can expect you to cut down drastically

I still feed on demand. My health visitor said it was the best thing for him and said to continue doing it all the time I’m happy to. Saying that he can’t have cows milk so it makes everyone’s life easier if he carries on breastfeeding. He has pumped milk at nursery and gets it when he needs it there too.

Hi Melissa 🌸 I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year too! Far too fast 💔 My daughter mainly feeds when waking up then before every nap and bedtime. I try to make sure she doesn’t fall asleep on the boob but doesn’t always go to plan 🙈 I try offering when she wakes from naps too but she might just have a few mins then she’s done. She’s been having 3 meals a day since 8 months How do you plan to introduce the cows milk? Just in a cup instead of the breast? Warm/cold? With her solids or after on its own? I don’t know where to start 😂 X

We still feed every 3 hours unless damaged before that and if wakes in the night. My health visitor keeps telling me "from a year she doesn't need night feeds" but if she wakes in the night wanting I'm not gonna stop her. In hoping to feed until we are ready to stop

We feed morning on waking, lunch and pre bed. Plus 1-2 night feeds. Had our 12 month review with HV on Monday as I was feeding mid morning as well and she told me to do a straight switch to a solid snack with water as I had already dropped the afternoon feed. She said to me still normal for night feeds so to continue at this and gradually ween off the next feed. This was all based on me wanting to stop breastfeeding now.
