Transition to 0 nap

Hi everyone my little one has been refusing her nap so I’ve been letting her stay up and sleep earlier for bedtime. First night she was overtired and woke up crying few times and 2nd night she did the same. Although she is having 12 hours of sleep overall I don’t understand why she keeps waking up crying from overtiredness? Does anyone know how long it can take for her to get used to this new schedule???

It took about a month for us after dropping the nap for him to be fully in his new routine. The evenings were difficult in that first month as he was tired and grumpy, but naps were affecting his bedtime sleep so much that I just had to power through. We're now 3 months in and his sleep is great, sleeps 12-13hrs a night and no longer gets tired in the afternoons/evenings :)!

@Laura oh okay so I’ll just keep going then and hope for the best hahahaha

It's rough but it does get better!!

Took about a month for us too What I found that really helped was having some quiet time instead of nap time. We’d read stories, sometimes watch Disney film, do some drawing etc. xx

@Laura what’s your little one’s routine like now after he dropped his nap

@Chloe what’s his routine like now

@Chloe yes we did too! That definitely helps

She probably still needs that down time. If she doesn’t nap that’s fine but still try to lay her down. And give her that quiet time. Sometimes she might sleep. And sometimes she might play. But maybe give books or some toys but I think it’s very helpful for kids to still get quiet time during the day to recover and be alone

My son's routine is wake up between 7-7.30am, then bedtime between 6.30-7pm. When he was napping it would take me 2-3 hours a night to get him to sleep, but now he's out within 5 minutes!

@Laura amazing! So once he’s asleep is he waking up crying or anytning? Because mine wakes up few times crying I’m assuming due to being overtired

He wakes up around 7 normally and then we start bedtime routine between 6:30/ 7. He’s usually fast asleep before 7:30

My son has always sporadically woken through the night, he doesn't get upset though he just wants a quick cuddle then he's back asleep, that's been normal for us for a long long time though. He definitely used to wake more when he was overtired

We have no nap for a few days and then he still needs one to catch up. He doesn't wake in the night though.
