Is this sort of stuff fair?

I grew up in a house were my dad worked my mum did everything because he worked he literally would not lift a finger around the house because he would be working all day, anyway this has clearly always been the norm for me growing up but now having a family myself and having friends with families i see that’s not always the case. Anyway I only work 2 hours a day then come home to my children and home to keep and care for the rest of the day, my husband works longer hours. Anyway yesterday in particular is the day I am talking about, my son has the flu so he is really ill he’s only 5, my daughter 22 months is very very hard to please she is unsure about anything at the moment, doesn’t want to play inside but also doesn’t want to play in the garden, doesn’t want to play down stairs but also doesn’t want to play upstairs, wants to sit in her high chair but doesn’t, SCREAMED for about 2 hours yesterday because she was sooo fussy, my husband finished at 4 yesterday, went to the shop to get stuff for the gym, came in at 5, went to the gym at half 6/7 came home legit sat in the toilet for about 20 minutes then went to bed, my girl woke up at 5:15 this morning and he refused to get up and help I’ve shouted up twice to see if he could give me a hand still not down and just saying “can no one have a good sleep in this house” is this fair I get that he works longer hours but he just seems lazy when it comes to the house and the kids

Absolutely not. I’m on mat leave with a 9 week old, and we have a 3 year old. My partner works full time and is out the house 7.30 to 5. He still does night feeds if I ask or as standard on weekend, he gets up early to do his gym so it doesn’t impact our family time, he gets 3YO up, dressed and takes them to preschool, when he’s home he takes one or the other so we’re one on one with both our kids. I do a bit more round the house as I’m at home during the day but he puts his hand in there too. I’m not saying this to brag, but to highlight that a full time job isn’t a free pass to not parent.

Hell no! He works a ‘full time,’ 40 hours/week job. You work a 168 hour/week job. How TF is that ‘fair???’ I just got divorced because my ex did some seriously shitty and betraying stuff, but I will give him credit for working around the house just as much as I did (do). We have 3 littles. Aside from feeding babies (no breasts. Kind of a hard excuse to argue with, lol!), he helped out and did everything that I did. Full time job, definitely NOT an excuse.
