Most babies aren’t actually capable of 12 hours sleep overnight. Around 10 is more realistic. They only need around 14 hours of total sleep in 24 hours at this age as a maximum, some babies need even less than this 😊 You can’t get a baby to sleep more than they require unfortunately x

Mine never sleeps through the whole night, she sleeps 12+ hours a night, but she wakes up usually about 3 times, where I give her milk, 1 nappy change or have to help her find her dummy. She goes back to sleep almost instantly so it’s not a problem. She sleeps so long at night though because she only naps once in the day. She has two older brothers (2&3) and has naturally adapted to their schedule so I can’t get her down for a second nap no matter how hard I try, so we extend her wake window until 6, then start her night routine and she’s down by 6:30 latest. So she totals 14-14.5 hours total sleep in a 24 hour period, but only sleeps 2-3 hours in the day across 1 nap :) I didn’t train her to do that, it’s just her way x

Most don’t sleep 7-7 its very unrealistic! Try pushing bed time. My LO is ebf so may be different if yours isn’t but she wakes at 8am naps 12-1 then naps again 4-5 and goes to bed at 9. She is then up every 2 hours feeding throughout the night

4am-2pm is a 10 hour stretch. That's about normal for this age. If you want to change it 7-7 you'll have to gradually adjust the bedtime until at 7, which if you want 7am bedtime then will take a few weeks, but 7pm could take a while. 12 hour 12 stretch you'll have to cut out a nap in the day. But 10 hours is good. My little one if 8/9pm-5/6am currently pushing closer to 6am. Thankfully this morning was 7am

We’ve always had a very set nighttime routine since he was little. Bath, Bottle, Books, Teeth, Bed. White noise & in bed by 6:45. He’s really good at just rolling around and going to sleep, but it took practice. I used to just talk to him gently until he fell asleep holding my fingers through his cot. He’s asleep by 7pm & wakes up 6/6:30am. HOWEVER he does wake up around 5am everyday has a bit of milk and goes back down for the last 1-1.5 hours. Honestly I’m not sure whether it’s the routine that did it or whether we just have a good sleeper. I really think it could just be personality! xxx
