Mine's been doing it 🤷‍♀️ she will also hit her head against the wall while she's sitting up against it. Not sure why she does it.

@Amber these are because of teething. They are in pain so they will randomly do things like this to distract them from the pain

@Melanie she isn't teething though 🤷‍♀️

It is very common and very normal. They can do it for any number of reasons including attempting to self sooth or cope with their emotions, trying to express their emotions, trying to get attention, it's thought they might do it to attempt to relieve pain. Super normal and not a cause for concern unless they are actually injuring themselves

@Amber how can you be sure she’s not teething? No shade at all I’m just curious 😂 I feel like my baby’s been teething for a year straight 😂

@Melanie she has had the same signs of teething for each tooth so far 😂 minus her first top tooth....she popped a fever for a day for that one. First day of our vacation to boot. Go figure lol

Mine has been pulling her hair at night lately. I assume it is a way of self soothing since we ditched the pacifier a month ago.

@Amber how old is your daughter

@iennah she is 16 months

@Amber okay does she have teeth coming in now

@iennah so technically teething is the process of getting teeth but cutting any now, no. She has been doing this randomly for at least a month now.

@Amber so she has been in this stage for a year now she might get her teeth soon all babies and toddlers have different milestones

@iennah oh I know. She only has 4 teeth. We did ask her pediatrician about it, and we'll see what the dentist has to say about it today. I'm not concerned about it. I was just saying that mine likes to hit her head but she isn't cutting the teeth. I guess teething in general may be painful enough to want to do that? But I know the cutting the teeth part is what gets them. It is weird, but it could be a stimulus thing too I guess. It does still shock me every time she randomly hits her head with her hands though. like...umm...okay girl

My son does that too he hits his head on the wall and he has this toy saucer he plays in and he hits his head on that and he also hits his head on his high chair and his dental doctor and pediatrician said it's normal because he keeps having more teeth come in and he is trying not to think of the pain
