How old is he? And is he doing it provoked or unprovoked?

@Janni ❤️ he’s turning two and he does it when he’s told not to do something- like when he climbs on the table she takes him off and says no then he smacks or headbutts

@Courtney my son is 2.5. There are a couple of things you can try. Simple phrase " get down" and then redirect immediately. Like "get down" look at this sooo coool . "Get down" and then praise." Wow, you did a good job getting off the table" or "Get down or time out" Then proceed with time out 1 min per age. The most important step is to explain that we needed a break for hitting. Can we say sorry. Next time, let's (suggest play, music, deep breaths, stomping, coping skills he can use). Every child is different, and they all have the hitting phase. During this time, he is learning emotions, and he doesn't have all the words. It's normal to be repetitive. The major thing is to remain calm. Know you are doing a good job and stay consistent. Eventually, he will get there. Bit know it's normal they don't call it terrible 2 for nothing.
