Has anybody seen this before?

Hey girls, I bathed my baby this morning and noticed his nipple was red and slightly bruised and has a little but very obvious lump under it. I rang 111 as hes had no trauma to it and they sent me straight to A&E. He also has a lot of mucus in his poo the past 3 days which can suggest infection according to google but I'm just falling down the Google hole with that one. The Dr at the hospital said he had no concerns and just to keep an eye on it and made me feel a bit silly for even going! Has anybody seen this before? I can't help but be worried by it still!

Can it be related to CMPA? what color is the Poo? My LB has similar red patches (eczema) and green poo with Mucus along with other symptoms and is being diagnosed with CMPA.

@SmallWonder I don't think so as I'm breastfeeding and if anything I've been having way less dairy for the last 4 weeks as I'm on slimming world 😂 my diet is so good right now I'm not eating anything processed or anything! He's 13 weeks old so would something like that have presented from the start too? He did have his jabs on Friday I wonder if it could be related to that 🤔 the hospital was soooo unhelpful and I just don't like the fact there's a bruise and then not doing a blood test

Breast buds are very common in babies, as they are a result of the influence of mothers hormones whilst in the womb. They can take up to 6 months to disappear. However, the redness and bruise are not normal. I would keep an eye on the bruise for the next couple of days to see if it starts turning yellow. If it stays the same or gets darker, I would push for a second opinion.

@Rosie Even I am EBF and my LO was diagnosed in 10th week; he was fine in the early weeks but could be related to jabs too or what @Kira is suggesting. Defo keep an eye out, hopefully it will get better soon. x
