Advice on stopping breastfeeding

Hey I’m after some advice.. my 14 month old is still breast feeding and I’m so over it tbh she has gone backwards and just wants to be on the boob all the time mainly for comfort. Night times are horrible! I just wanted advice on if it’s better to drop a feed or if I just cold turkey and stop all at once and anyone who has had experience on this? Thanks Lucy

Following as I’m in the same situation.

Going through it hunny with a nearly 15 months old. Nights are his worst and if we are home he melt dwn I've starred dropping day feeds again when we are out it's easy harder when I'm at home but drop one feed at a time. Best for u and maybe easier try keep busy when they normally comfort feed keep routines a bit different each day um funding helps

No advice but I feel you, I’m the same my daughter is 14 months and she’s still feeding for comfort a couple times in 24 hours it’s exhausting! I’m also pregnant again so it’s hurting when she boots me etc!

Look at Emma Pickett Ibclc and her blog and podcasts on weaning. I would not go cold turkey. You run the risk of mastitis and low mood from the hormone shift and it isn't pleasant for the child as you have been the source of comfort all her life. Have you gone back to work recently? She might be reverse cycling.

We are in the same situation! I was reading about something called the one year breast feeding crisis (I think there’s one at 3 months too) where they actually stop growing for a bit and so eat less solids but want more milk purely for nutrients. They then have a growth spurt at around 15-18 months and this ‘crisis’ is supposed to stop! I’m holding out until then but yeah. My little one is constantly signing for milk! Even if I put him on my lap 😂 you’re right too though. I think it’s comfort mainly! He’s also teething x

We went cold turkey at night and my husband co slept with little one. He had 2 screaming episodes the first night but was much better the second night and settled himself to sleep
