Nipple pain

My little girl has tongue tie. We have an appointment Thursday so hopefully all will be well soon. However, I have very sore nipple where she has difficulty latching. She’s also hungry all the time so I’m not sure she’s getting enough. I think I have blisters. What can I do to help…

I had this and once my little one's tie was snipped, it got better quite quickly. To help her get more, you can compress the breast she's on with a flat hand to help the milk flow more, so she doesn't have to work as hard. Hope all goes well for you both!

Both my boys have been tongue tied, hang in there, it’s so hard but it does get better! Experiment a little with different positions- I went to an infant feeding support group with my youngest that was so helpful, they showed me how to feed in the laid back position, which instantly felt better for me and worked better for him. Silver nipple cups and lots of nipple balm to help with the pain. You could try shields but as your appt is so soon then you might want to hold off on that until you have had it snipped

My boy had a tongue, lip and cheek ties. Once it was lasered immediately he latched better. Are you using a nipple shield? Also those hydro breast patches are really nice on the nipple. Lots of balm between feeds.

My right boob had blisters so I only fed on my left until my right healed

Nipple shields are the best. My son had a tongue tie had it repaired and still struggled. The shields made a dramatic difference. Make sure you get the appropriate size for your nipple.

I found brining baby under the breast helped to get a bigger latch when tongue tied. Like holding under your arm rather than accross your body. Hope you get some relief both mine were tongue tied and I have sensitive skin so used everything in the first few weeks.
