Magnesium

Has anyone used magnesium butter on their babies & did it work? 13 months in & still sleeping like a newborn, these 2 hourly wakes are a killer especially with our jobs so we're keen to try anything x

My little girl is the same. She did 4 hours in one stretch last night and I couldn't believe it. I've seen the magnesium butter advertised but I'm not sure if it really works. It's so tiring when you then have to go work the next day 😴

@Vicky it's so tiring agreed 😌 I've brought one that's suitable for 6+ month olds, if it doesn't work it's just another thing ticked of the to try list lol. I actually took my son to the GP who told me him not sleeping is his temperament & bad luck x

Following .. I have been tempted To try it .. is your LO breastfed ?

Speaking with a friend today- she swore by 1/2 a mashed banana at bedtime eaten and then 1/2 normal milk feed. Her LO slept through (is now 4). I’ve yet to try it on my 13m old who has trouble sleeping- my presumption is that the banana is high in potassium/magnesium it would work on the same principle? Might be worth a shot?!

@Louma Yes, I'm hoping fo wean but not sure where to start tbh x

Our lo is now sleeping after 11.5 months of hellish wakes. Things we do : Weetabix and some mashed banana before bed - warmed a little on the stove so it’s thick consistency like oats would be Swapped her white noise for gentle rain sounds on phone app - sleep changed from every 2 hours awake to sleeping 830-5am the night I did this so I don’t know if it’s relevant but it’s staying 😂 Thick / heavier sleeping bag (arms out) There are definitely ways to do it without sleep training which I would definitely recommend avoiding (I’m a child therapist with psychology background)

We've considered it but haven't tried it yet. I read that it will only work if they have a magnesium deficiency, not sure how you would know that? So just try it and see I guess? I've ordered drops rather than butter as he already has lotion on every night for his eczema.

@Natalie what other things are worth trying please?!

My little boy has a banana mashed in yogurt every night before bed. I started after someone told me that bananas help babies sleep. Since 7 months old he's slept 7pm until 630am. I don't know if it's down to the banana but I'm not willing to find out by stopping!!!

I'm trying banana tomorrow! Xx

Let us know how it goes! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
