@Jess I have an anterior placenta so my stomach is always hard but it’s never felt like it’s tight , it just a cramp at the lower abdomen then back pain and it will go after about 30 seconds or if I move. Thank you for your advice x
I have anterior placenta too and trust me - I’m WELL aware when I’m having braxton hicks. It’s so uncomfortable and stops me in my tracks but not painful. Makes me feel gross haha! It’s my second baby so I know what they feel like. If it’s just lower abdomen though, definitely doesn’t sound like braxton hicks. Personally I would call midwife during daytime hours and discuss it rather than out of hours triage but if you are worried, that’s what they are there for! I guess it depends on your gut feeling.
Is your whole stomache going super tight and hard? Not just part of it as that could must be baby backing up and pushing against uturus wall. If the whole area is tight and comfortable, lasts for about 20/30secinds ish then goes away - it’s braxton hicks. Back pain is definitely likely at this stage also but the braxton hick is a ‘practice’ contraction and shouldn’t have cramping with it (pain that only lasts whilst the contraction is happening in the stomache and then goes once the tightening releases). If that’s happening, get checked out just to be sure. But general cramping without tightening could be allsorts - it could also be pulling ligaments pain etc honestly the amount of things that can happen at this stage is insane and I would speak to midwife about general period pain type cramping. I have so much pain in so many areas but not specifically in my uterus, it’s more ligaments around it, back pain, sciatica, pelvic pain etc
