Question for the group:

How much, if anything, would you pay? So, I have a 7mo and I work nights 2-3 nights per week. I've had someone living here since end of May. They paid a little the 1st few months but they got close with my son and I trusted them enough to babysit while I work. They haven't paid anything to live here the last couple months. My son is asleep the majority of the time I'm gone, but does wake up for a couple feedings. This person loves my kid and is really good with him. That's not in question, but they borrow money from me ($20-$40) several times per month. I also provide all utilities, household toiletries, and food. I cook dinner every night and keep their preferred beverages etc in stock. They asked me today about payment for babysitting. What do you think is fair? ETA: This person is a night owl and stays up all night/sleeps all day even before they started babysitting. That's a big reason I returned to work nights in the 1st place.

Absolutely Nothing! Yes it’s not their job to watch someone else’s child. It’s also not your job to provide housing and food and everything else for this person. So to me it’s more than a fair trade 🤷🏽‍♀️

That’s good enough right there

That was my thinking... Follow up question: how much would one expect to pay a live in overnight babysitter, barr the current circumstances. Like, if I were to put a rate on it, how much per night is it worth? I want to do some figuring and either pay or charge the difference.

I wouldn’t pay anything since you are providing way too much. I pay a babysitter $20 per hour whenever we go out at night/day.
