Improving LO sleep

I’ve posted several times about struggling to get my little one to sleep during the day, she was refusing all naps etc! Today we’ve had some success and I think it’s because we’ve done the following and wanted to share in case anyone found it useful! 1. Followed wake windows again. For a while we lost track of this and as she wasn’t showing any sleep signs we thought she didn’t need a nap. Wrong! We now know she can’t go more than 1h45 without needing a nap even at 5 months. 2. Huckleberry sweet spot has been a game changer for us. I’ve followed it for a week now and she’s fallen asleep within 10 minutes of the recommended time 3. Committed to having at least two naps a day in her cot. Sleep bag on, white noise etc. this has tested my patience no end but she has started to fall asleep within 15 minutes of being put down and I think she’s enjoying the peace and quiet of her own room 🙌🏻 4. Hidden in the room whilst putting her down for naps so she doesn’t see us and think it’s play time!

Thank you for sharing we are struggling so much with this right now! The sweet spot tends to be pretty accurate in terms of predicting when she needs a nap but no matter what we do as soon as she goes down she just screams and screams until she's hysterical - even if I'm there with her 😭 Honestly at a loss for what to try next. She just will not fall asleep without a boob! So glad you're seeing some success! X

@Lisa That’s so tough for you! My little one is bottle fed so I imagine weaning off the boob to sleep is another level! We’ve tried to stop associating feeding with sleeping so I always try and put her down after I know she’s full/a good 30/40 minutes after a feed x

I think we're going to start weaning off the boob too to see if it helps us create a better routine with feeding and naps etc.

@Lisa It was recommended to us to stop feeding to sleep, we became so used to it and she got into the habit x

@Lisa same my girl has rejecting crib and cot naps over the last week and seems to have forgotten to self soothe however on me she’ll only soothe on boob but will settle for partner so I see it as a comfort in a confusing time so will stick with it for now. I’m also lazy and it’s quicker to settle her on boob than any other way I see it as a secret weapon 😂😂

I have not used Huckleberry, but I have heard about it Could someone explain how it works and what the sweet spot is? Do you have to subscribe via a fee?

Sleep suit daytime , do you leave her in day wear ? Two layer of clothes in a 2.5 tog ? What temperature is the room I havnt tryed that yet

@Shruti It’s a tracking app that lets you log feeds/sleep/nappy changes. There are different subscription levels, but effectively sweet spot works off your babies age/routine and recommends the right time to put your baby down for a nap throughout the day. I haven’t explained it very well but if you give it a Google it’ll come up

@Liz I’ll adjust depending on how warm the room is. She was wearing a dress today so I just stripped her down to her vest and 2.5 tog

Ok 😎
