Baby wearing - hate or love?

I absolutely hate baby wearing but my 2 month old literally only wants to be in his barrier. He's fussy until I finally put him in a carrier and then walk around. I know women swear by it and feel like they've freed themselves up from holding the baby but I still feel super restricted in what I can do and I just don't like baby wearing. My carrier isn't one that is easy to transfer him to a bed once he's asleep so I literally have to just wait for him to wake up and by then my legs and hips hurt so damn bad. Maybe I need a better carrier. We just don't have the money for an expensive one. Any suggestions on carriers?

I hate baby wearing, I just sit on the couch with her or put her on her play mat with toys or get stuff done while she’s napping

Depends on what type of carrier you have. Up until about 3 months old I used the clothe ones which I love. But now my daughter is older I use the clip ones. You can put the baby in the carrier first and then wear them like a back pack instead of having them on your front. If I'm doing chores or what not the front wearing does kill me after awhile

@Shay I struggle with the cloth one. I thought I'd love that one but getting him in it is so difficult and we both end up getting hot and stressed lol I use a baby Bjorn one that has clips but I haven't even the slightest idea how I'd wear him on my back. He's almost 3 months but he holds his head up already (rolls too, annoyingly lol)

@Jess I wish he'd let me sit on the couch with him. He'll chill there for like 10 mins and then gets fussy because he wants me to be standing or walking.

When he can hold his head up, switch to a hip seat. He can still ride along, but it's less restrictive for you.

@Bonny I forgot about a hip seat! My older daughter wouldn't sit on one so I ended up giving away the one I had bought. He holds his head up already so maybe I'll get that for when he's really able to sit. Great idea! Thanks!

Have you tried the cloth kind that’s the one I want.

You can take a nap on the bed with the carrier half on. If it’s a buckle carrier, slowly unbuckle and loosen as much as possible without waking baby, and then do a contact nap on the bed. If your baby is rolling, make sure the edges of the bed have stuff keeping baby from falling

I also think a ring sling is a bit easier for transfers than a buckle carrier. You can loosen the ring sling and shimmy out of it

@Shay that is a pretty cool looking one. Thanks for sharing! I like that it's got a hip seat too

@Alicia I wish I could just take a nap with him that would be easiest. I have a 3 year old too so I can't nap during the day because she doesn't nap often 🥲😭

@Ebone I have, I just struggle with getting him in it and/or feel like it's too loose or too tight. It's difficult for me but I know a lot of people who love them. I wanted to love the cloth carriers lol

I have this one and one other that doesn't have the seat but they are about $40. All you have to do is put him in the carrier and sit him down on the bed and put him on like a backpack. You can try YouTubing it?

Also , if you continue to have back and lake pain , you might want to look into pelvic floor therapy

I love it but it wasn’t comfortable until he was a little bigger. I have the infantino one from Amazon and I like it, plus it’s not expensive

Hate it, its hot, I have to extend my arms too far to get tasks done, my breast are too big and so my baby is also uncomfortable with baby wearing lol

I used to hate it too until I started wearing my son in my back. 2 months might be too early, we started doing that around 3 months and I was able to do chores around the house with him, go shopping, everything really.

@Elisabeta Furtuna ill try the wearing the on the back maybe my baby wont be pushed so far out and can actually feel comfortable lol.

@Nef I have the same issue with the breasts 😅, so he was also uncomfortable all the time when we did front wearing. Give it a try, my son used to love it and would even nap like that sometimes

@Alex baby Bjorn isn't the most supportive. They can't go on your back in a buckle carrier until they can sit independently. Any full carriers with a built in hip seat are not ergonomic cos baby can't sit in the m shape. I'd personally look for a new carrier, options such as an integra/connecta are cheap enough secondhand but don't have a lot of padding.

@Nef wearing on the back in a buckle carrier is from when baby can sit independently

I wish I could get my baby to like baby wearing! She hates it so far (almost 3 months). But it does get hard on your back after awhile. Maybe try adding a Tushbaby for support and taking weight off your back?

Loooove baby wearing!! Sadly my #3 hasn’t got the memo yet 😂 I have Tula and really love them, the fit and patterns are so nice and no back pain. You can get stretchy ones that you put on like a tshirt too (for those like me who just cannot got the life of them work out wraps 😅). I’m not sure what brand is available there because I’m in the uk
