Crawling

My 4 1/2 month old shows a lot of interest in crawling and is also always pushing up on his feet to stand. When he tries to crawl he doesn’t use his arms and just inch worms forward. If he’s refusing to support his body on his arms is something wrong? Even when I place toys a little higher up for him to grab he won’t lift himself to get them he’ll just cry.

He’s still only young, hell just need to build his arm strength. My son didn’t start crawling until 8/9 months, before then he just rolled everywhere.

My son is exactly same! Wants to crawl but wont push up and is same age. Just have to keep working on building up there muscle strength by continuing to do tummy time. But i look up other exercises online like there are some PT/OT people on tik tok that show you videos of what you can do for age ranges!

Mine is the same! Also same age, he has good pulling strength, pulling himself to a supported sit but won’t push with his arms, I’m hoping the rest just comes with time but technically I don’t think the pushing up is expected until 6 months so they have time! I try to celebrate how far he’s come rather than what he lacks because he still has a long way to go, I’d only worry if it goes past the milestone expectations and I would talk to my pediatrician about what I could do in that scenario.

hes still super young and doesn’t quite have the arm strength yet. you can help him by putting something under his chest to help him push into his arms more! mine was the same and we had to really work on the arm strength first. she’s 6 months now and army crawling. don’t stress! he will get there when he gets there
