Breastfeeding with flatter nipples

I'm due in a couple of weeks and really keen to breast feed but have concerns around latch as my nipples aren't permantly protruding. They aren't inverted and it really doesn't take a lot of stimulating to bring them out and I'm hoping babies mouth around them and my areola will be enough but it's a bit stressful the more I worry about it. Has anyone else had any experience with this and can offer any advise please?

Hey! Congrats to you :) I had the same kind of nipples as you, and baby will find them don't worry! The baby brings them out, without sounding weird! You'll be fine :)

@Alison thank you!!!! X

One of mine is flatter and he does struggle more but I’ve been using a breast pump to draw out the nipple and it has really helped

One of mine is inverted and my baby still seems to bring that out as long as she’s not fussy beforehand

I have flat nipples and he struggles to latch so I use nipple shields and they’re amazing and he latches great! I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea but he latches and feeds so much better with them so it works for us 😊
