Cat naps

Does anyone else’s 6 month old just cat nap? My son is 6 months and 2 weeks, and during the day he just has cat naps, it’s like he has an alarm set and wakes up after 30 minutes.. he goes for a nap every couple of hours, I’ve tried to go for longer thinking he will be really tired and will sleep for longer - nope, 30 minutes and wide awake again 🤦🏻‍♀️😄 any recommendations on how to get him to take longer naps ?🌺

Following - in the same boat! My little one’s sleep has been horrific past few weeks and I’ve been trying to sleep when she has her naps but everytime I’m just falling asleep she wakes up 🙄

Yes my little one is the same, on the odd occasion he might go for a bit longer. But he does do 11-12 hours at night so will take that over the naps 😂

Yes! My little girl is exactly the same. It doesn't matter how long she's been awake for or where she's napping. She has a 33-minute nap all the time. Sometimes I can get an hour out of her but I kind of need to disrupt her nap before the half hour and resettle her which is only easy to do during a contact nap.

Yesss I try to nap during the day sometimes, but as soon as I close my eyes he seems to wake up 😪😅 He used to sleep all through the night since he was around 7/8 weeks - but he started waking up once or twice during the night couple of months ago, sometimes more if he’s teething ( has 5 teeth now )🙈😅… I wouldn’t mind him having these cat naps during the day if he slept all night, but he doesn’t 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 he’s been asleep for an hour now, buttttt he has woken up like 3 times during this nap and I had to rock him back to sleep 😅

Oh I’ve downloaded the sleep coach app yesterday, I’ve looked at the schedule this morning and thought to myself there no way that this is happening 😂it says that his first nap should be 45mins ( slept for 30) second nap should be 1hr 15mins ( we are currently on 1 hr and 5mins so might hit the target) and last nap should be 1hr 20 mins, so not sure about that…

Can I ask if they’re doing 30 mins what’s their bedtime and wake up time? We’re the same and struggling with overtiredness before bed leading to terrible sleep and early starts

Our bedtime is around 740pm and she wakes around 620am. Sleeps through and has between 2.5-3 hour wake windows. We also have the overtired issues before bed time.

@Kirsty he goes to sleep around 8ish, and wake up time is between 7-8. Last night he woke up from his last nap just before 5pm, after 7pm he was very moody and tired. So we’ll be trying to go to sleep a bit earlier today

My girls only ever done 3x 30min naps even as a newborn. She'll be awake for hours and hours and not be tired

@Rachael does she sleep all night?

@Judita nope, she did from week 6 to week 12 she slept 8-9 hours without waking up and then she stopped as i took the swaddle away and switched to sleep bags. She wakes about 3 times a night to feed and go back to sleep

I’m having the issue that she fights all morning then naps late so she’ll wake up from a nap about 1530 -1600 and I don’t know whether to give her another nap at 1730/1800 or put her down early, she’ll only have slept 1.5-2 hours total but she’ll only ever do 10 at night so would be a 4am wake up or 2030-2100 bedtime

30 mins to an hour if I'm lucky here.. cat naps and lately become contact naps as well 😴

Exactly the same! Bang on 30 mins 🤬

Yes! Mine does 40 mins on the dot for 3 naps a day. He is (mostly) sleeping through so I’m not looking to change anything. I read that as long as they wake up happy and are quite settled during the day it means they just suit shorter naps🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes however I leave her playing for 15 mins in bed and quite often she will go back to sleep! Today I left her 15 mins and she went back to sleep for 2 hours! She sleeps all night as well xx

Exactly the same here! He’s a terrible daytime napper, can’t even get him to sleep in the cot it always has to be a contact nap! My first son used to nap for 2 hrs 3 times a day, I could get so much done! 😂

This is us, ever since about 5 months. I can often get him back down for a 50 minute sleep cycle provided everything is perfectly quiet and boring. I've read plenty of sleep consultants saying it's due to not enough sleep pressure, but tiredness seems to have no effect.
