Child waking early needing a poo

Hi all, looking for some help with my 3.5yo. His sleep has been worse over the past 6months (previously slept well) l. I think this is related to a number of recent changes- went from cot to bed/potty training and new sister. We have tried to be consistent and take him back to bed calmly sometimes helping him settle with a cuddle. This seems to be improving slowly. However, he has started to regularly poo at 4am (sometimes in the potty but more often in his nappy) which wakes him up and then he struggles to get back to sleep. I think he may be holding his poo and could be a little constipated. Very keen to get him back to pooing in the day with the hope of us all getting a bit more sleep! Any advice welcome… thanks :)

We had the same issue about a year ago when my daughter had started potty training. The GP prescribed Movicol to help regulate bowel movements x

My daughter holds her poo in also 3.5 years old , it causes absolute nightmares when it gets really bad , I started putting a small dose of lactulose in her evening drink (milk / juice ) took a while but now she can pass it easier, we still have the odd battle here and there , but I found it really helped us x

The lactulose makes the urge stronger to go to the toilet so she has to let it go , because she isn't constipated she's holding it in because shes scared , so we found this the best way to go , hope things get better for u
