3.5 year old behaviour

he always been great with his sister (8mo) but the other day he pushed her so hard she rolled sideways twice. obviously we told him and we were stern and told him what could have happened. THEN this morning he’s pushed her again and she fell off the bed, screamed for a bit but she’s fine in herself but i am so upset that this happened

My son sometimes does this when he gets jealous but not often, it is very strange but he is currently getting diagnosed for autism and adhd (not sure is that has anything to do with it) but it’s a rare occasion that he would hit or throw stuff at his sister x

I think it’s absolutely normal. He’s still a child and he’s learning to manage his emotions, I think it more shows that something’s going on with him making him more emotional. My toddler has never really been a big fan of his little sister but when he’s not feeling well or it’s just a bad emotional day for him it’s a lot worse 😕 I encourage him to say sorry and show him how to be gentle then encourage them to hug. If he also needs a hug from me he does come close and get one to help him feel like he’s still loved. All the best though, it’s a tricky time for juggling big emotions. ❤️

I’ve just gone through this, bloody horrible but for me it was constant. I had to try and not let my 3 year old get any opportunity to hurt my 10months old ( playpen helped) then I just was reinforcing gentle hand, hugs and kisses, so basically modelling the correct behaviour. Now I can officially say he’s so good with his little brother again! X
