Do you have insomnia?

By that I mean awake for atleast 2-5 hours at night before or during the night for 3 nights or more a week

I feel yiou..I always find it so hard to switch off and go back to sleep after the night feed x

@Bekkah hey thank you I had insomnia way before babies so night feeds didn’t change that :) I just wondered how common severe insomnia was for us on here

I've never been diagnosed with insomnia but I've never been able to fall asleep before 1 or 2 since I was a teenager no matter how hard I tried or how early I got up regularly and it was a major struggle when I was in the newborn stage

Yepppp I have insomnia & I also suffer from idiopathic hypersomina it’s quite the double team. 🙃🥲

@Kylie sameee I don’t know how to stop it like I’m mid 30s and I’m still like it I didn’t realise it wasn’t normal until I spoke to a psychiatrist about PPD and my nights and first newborn not sleeping that he asked me what my sleep was like previously and I said In awake for about 2-4 hours during most nights and he looked at me and was like that’s totally not normal! He didn’t go in to detail about it though he was just helping me through the PPD

@Parker 又 ooh goodness sorry you also struggle. It’s catching up with me so much now I’m older. I’ve never heard of that before x

My baby is the one with insomnia haha

I do, it's awful, since my teens I have had it. The newborn phase doesn't bother me because I'm so used to no sleep unfortunately

I meditate before sleeping and use lavender essential oils or pillow mist which works like a dream... still wake up here and there though

very hard to fall and stay asleep. i think the only time i got enough sleep was when my son was just born he’d sleep through the night so we didn’t do night feedings. but before and after that time it’s going to bed at like 3-5 and waking up at 8. when i was pregnant id stay up the entire night and sleep in the day.

Do you have anxiety? Like from before you had babies?

It happens to me sometimes but not chronically. I find getting up and eating something and drinking a cup of milk helps me get sleepy again
