Breastfeeding

I have a month old baby girl, and I am breastfeeding but having trouble making enough milk and having to give her a bottle of formula. I am starting to feel like giving up, but I really want to keep breastfeeding Are there any tricks to help get my milk supply up. Any tip and tricks would really help.

Body armor, Oreos, lactation cookies or crackers, protein shakes. Power pumping, and coconut water are all a good place to start

@Catt thank you so much ❤️

When you give the formula are you pumping? What made you introduce formula? What makes you think you aren’t producing enough? Formula becomes a little bit of a trap as the more you give the less baby latches and then the less milk you make. Have you spoken with a lactation consultant?

@Yasmin I am pumping about every 2 hours for about 15 to 20 minutes. The reason why I think that I'm not producing enough is 'cause after I'm done feeding her, she's still acting hungry.

@Yasmin I have talked to the lactation consultant, but when I did, I was making a lot, and now I am not making much.

Pump princess

@Flower thank you honey

Your boob's only produce enough milk that they think they need ... you need to let the baby on your boob everytime they hungry, your boob's will then know that they need to produce more milk. And the next day they will produce more. It's called cluster feeding....... I used to do the same as you. Until a midwife told me about boob memory. Now I souly breastfeed only. Drinking lots of organic milk also helps your milk supply x

A good majority of the time my son acts hungry after eating for at least 30 mins. Sometimes he goes for an hour or more. He’s 6 weeks. And I know I’m producing enough because when I pump I get usually 4-5 oz or more if it’s earlier in the day. Listen and watch for the swallows! If baby isn’t swallowing often then you know he isn’t getting milk. But usually if there’s nothing coming out baby will start fussing, pulling on boob or coming off latch and relatching!

Try some supplements from Legendairy they have some great reviews

@Chrisshell this is very very normal at such a young age! They’re still building and regulating your supply. Research cluster feeding! My baby would feed on and off for hours at a time at that age x

Thank you everyone

1 month is still very young! We’re often led to believe that breastfeeding happens so naturally, for baby too, but it doesn’t in my experience, they’re still learning at that age. It took about 3-4 months for my milk to regulate and it constantly felt like I was producing too little or too much by the day. Your body produces as much milk as your baby needs. So get her/him to keep latching on. When my little one was this age, I was feeding her every 30 mins at one point, and I thought it was because I wasn’t making enough, but they go through all stages at this age. Mental development, growth spurts, physical development. They can grow increasingly fussy during these periods and appear as unsettled or hungry! Keep at it, it’s so worth it! Well done for doing 1 month already! ❤️
