In need of advice and support 🥹

i'd just like to know people's opinions on whether they think living with their parents is better during the newborn stage , or if they found it better having their own place . I'm currently 38+4 and both me and my boyfriend decided to stay at my mums place just for extra support as we are both nervous first time parents and want to save enough to get our own place where we can afford and live comfortably .i currently don't have my own room . My sister has her own room and doesn't want me to be sharing with her as i will be with a newborn and doesn't want to be disturbed , which i understand .My little brother has his own room which he has to as he is a boy. and my parents have their own room too, so i would just have to stay in the living room with my newborn and boyfriend which makes me utterly uncomfortable but i think at least i have a roof over my head ? i found out about my pregnancy 5 months in and i was on contraception so i really wasn't prepared and i still feel as if im not as i feel bad my baby doesn't even have his own house and we have to stay in my parents living room. My partner is estranged from his family which makes everything harder . Just really worried about everything and how it may affect my mental health after i've given birth.

Honestly not having your own room with privacy is going to be really hard I found it easier to have my own place then staying in my moms living room

I think it all depends on the baby. My first baby was very difficult so I would have loved to be staying at my parents house. My mum was round mine every day anyway for the first few months but my second baby is much better so I don’t need my mum for support as much. I would maybe stay at your parents and see how you get on and go from there? I think you already know but Just keep telling yourself how lucky you are to have that support. Good luck mama, you’ll do great!

That sounds like a very difficult situation. I would definitely prefer to be in my own place rather than staying in the living room of your parents house. If you can’t afford to get your own place just yet, could you apply for a council house?
