Tips to help walk

I know all babies develop at their own time but it’s really hard having a 13 month old who still isn’t walking. She’s been crawling and pulling up on things for months. She’ll walk holding my hands but won’t even stand up by herself yet. She’s the last of her friends her age to not be walking. They’re all running by this age and she’s being left behind.

We are right there with you. My LO prefers to crawl over walk.

I think cruising and standing have to come before taking independent steps. I think walking holding hands could potentially be a hindrance because it doesn’t develop her center of gravity. If you just keep having interesting things available that are worth pulling up for, I think that’s your best bet for developing those next steps in the process.

I know it’s hard to walk later than friends 🥺

Install a pull to stand bar! We got everything at home depot for $20!! Once baby is able to pull to stand they will eventually stand on their own and taking a few steps will come after that

@Nichole 🫶🏼

@Grayson She’s been pulling up and cruising for a few months now. She’ll even push a chair and take steps but has never stood up without using something to steady herself

@Leah do you have a picture? I don’t really know what that would look like ❣️

Oh, that’s great, if she’s cruising, she’ll definitely walk soon. In fact, she may walk from chair to chair before she stands up from seated. You can put toys on nearby chairs to encourage them to take a couple of free steps. She’s on her way!

Our babies loved to push this when they were just learning to walk: https://us.nuby.com/products/wooden-baby-walker?variant=41731787391158&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&kendall_source=google&kendall_campaign=20744656981&kendall_adid=&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAACXqay-XvyVIfddqtEMaWZl65WPcf&gclid=Cj0KCQjw99e4BhDiARIsAISE7P-1Z2PUrODY0zuXFx-Bdxn9-Sqp4xKQAy1TUb2x-u15g2pbrmG80AQaAgksEALw_wcB

I held onto the shirt sleeves like at the very top lightly it made him feel like he was being supported without you actually holding any wait and I’d randomly let go until he got confident on his own

same with my LO

Yeah my daughter is 13 months and still not walking yet either

@Grayson Thanks for all the comments ❣️ We actually have this and she’ll take multiple steps with it. She has for a few months though. It’s just not progressing to independent like her friends are

@Esmeralda The second I give less support like this, she notices right away and sits down and crawls 🙁
