Talking?

My little is almost 17 months and only says mama and dada. And lots of noises and babbling. Are your kids talking yet??

My daughter is doing the same thing. She uses mama and dada in place of other words. “Mama” is binky, grandma, mom, water, etc. and “dada” is dad, dog, aunty, grandpa, down, door, etc. She babbles tons, and uses “huh” or “hm” when she thinks she’s copying words we are saying.

Not like sentences or anything but he says about 6 simple words and babbles

Mine is 16 months about to be 17. Says mama and dada and she will say others words once and then never again. Lots and lots of babbling but I can tell she's trying to talk because of her tone and body language. I was told not to worry too much about it, every kid starts on their own. I've been worried too, but got some great advice from a friend. Message me and I'll pass it on

My baby started speech therapy to help him catch up

Mine is 16 months old but he says words mostly he doesn't understand what they mean but he is really good at copying them like pronunciation is great. He understands mommy, daddy, brother, no, water, cereal, sit, ball, car, hungry, blanky and stuff like that also he knows the entire ABC (with mistakes and sometimes forgets letters) and he counts from 1-20 and knows colors. He recently started putting words together still not full sentences but 2-3 words together so we are definitely making progress.

she just turned 16m. says up down thats good ball & a ton of words & abcs and counts but will NOT say mama.. not even once

Mine is the same way, I get worried about it too... 😮‍💨

Mine was a big “mama” sayer for a while….and now everything is “dada” and he’ll say “mama” like once or twice when the moon is full…on a Sunday night…when the crickets chirp just right at 7:01pm lololol “Dada” is usually daddy or doggy. “Nana” is water/sippy cup, more food(accompanied with signing “more”), a specific object (he points), or of course, actual Nana (my mom). “Mama” is….mama. lol “Ball” is ball or anything that’s a circle shape (2D or 3D lol) “Woooo”/“wow”/“whoaaaaa” A lot of hard core babbling too😅 The man is 15 months. Parents in law have noted that his pronunciation isn’t quite where (maybe they feel) it should be, especially on “ball”(it sounds like, “bahhhh-wlll” instead of the more prominent “all” sound. But granted, he’s 15 months, just about to be 16 months. We *do* have a hearing test b/c his ENT did note he’s had a lot of ear infections in his first year of life and wants to make sure all is well (there is talk of ear tubes..), but I’m not too concerned. :)
