Sick days at work

Has anyone else had to take sick days due to feeling horrendous? I’ve just had my fourth day off today (not in a row) since finding out I’m pregnant (I’m 11+1) and also not sure if I can even manage to go tomorrow. It’s making me feel so anxious and guilty calling in sick but I can’t do my job properly when I feel like this (I work with children)

I found that it was best to let your employer know if you have morning sickness and things like that , I told mine early on as I was finding that I struggled with starting early mornings and juggling morning sickness, I did feel guilty at first but I knew that it was a sign my baby was growing well

@sakia I have let them know it’s due to morning sickness and they know I’ve been struggling but still can’t help feeling guilty and like I’m having too much time off!

@Abbie have you tried taking anti- sickness medication at all I have heard mixed reviews on them It’s really hard to get out of that guilty headspace I am currently in that at the moment and it does feel like you are almost letting your manager and colleagues down and I think it’s hard as I am not showing at the moment as well so not everyone at work knows

Make sure work know your pregnant and it won’t go against you. I’ve been signed off for 3 weeks x

i am 9 weeks and 2 days, i felt tired and had lots of cravings in my first 3 weeks but since the 4th week until now i do not feel anything, i am scared, is this normal, i dont feel anything at all no morning sickness no sign of cravings no symptoms at all, i dont want to test again cos i am scared. i have my first scan this week cos midwives thinks i am 12 weeks. is this normal please?

I was signed off for 2 weeks as I just couldn’t cope As I am hitting 12 weeks it’s more manageable providing I eat every 2 hours - so if you need to speak to the doctor don’t feel guilty at all

Last week (at 8 weeks), my morning sickness suddenly got bad out of nowhere. Ended up telling my manager, and she has been super supportive - literally saying take the time you need and work when you can. The guilt is hard when you feel like you're not pulling your weight, but if you weren't pregnant you wouldn't be trying to work feeling as you do. Do speak to your Dr. They put me on some anti sickness straight away, and although it isn't perfect, I can at least now eat and drink.

You just need to do what’s best for you. I always heard how hard the 1st trimester is but you never know until you’re going through it and I have been fully knocked out by it! I was off for a week last week due to relentless sickness and everyone understood. I’m also a worrier and worry about what people think but I genuinely believe pregnancy can be the hardest thing to go through so give yourself a bit of grace x

Get yourself a pregnancy sicknote, just to protect you for your sick days, I don't really take time off work I'm just sick in the toilet and then back to work 😆 but obviously each to there own xxx

I felt the same and felt so bad but if you have anything like trigger points ect for sickness, pregnancy related illness isn’t allowed to effect your points & also cannot be penalised for it! Take the time you need girl xxxx
