Multiple attempts to put baby down

Baby will be in what seems like a deep sleep but every time I put him down he wakes up crying and as soon as I hold him he falls back asleep. It’s taking so long to put him down so Im not getting much time to myself in the evening or time with hubby before going tl bed/his next feed. Anyone else? Any tips ?

No tips but in exactly the same position and losing the will to live 🙃

The key thing is perserverance - just keep trying! So difficult when this happens 😔My little one does this with most naps! One thing I do that often works is get their head ready for transfer whilst in my arms. This might look like my 'free' hand stroking or holding his head and looking for any response that tells me he isn't ready (usually a little head tuck or shake) or it might be my supporting arm swapping to just my hand supporting his head. Sometimes, I purposefully move him in my arms - so I might gently move him to his back in my arms; or do a gentle reposition of the legs or placement of my hands; or sometimes I simply just sit and stand up a few times. For my little one, going from snuggled, warm and still, to then being moved and into a cooler spot is usually what wakes him - so I feel like by prepping him it's like tricking him 😂 I also find patting his tummy and putting a hand on his head once I've laid him down can help resettle quickly if he stirs.

My baby is like this at night. Literally walking on egg shells. If I just breathe the wrong way he's up. But in the afternoon I could vacuum around him he'd not wake up. Definitely losing the will to live too at night

@Mimi aww bless you. Im so sorry you’re facing the same thing. It’s so tough isn’t it? 😭😓

@Jade bless you for these tips, thank you! Sounds like you’ve been trying and testing a few ways. It’s tiring thinking about the effort we have to put in just to guarantee they’re asleep 😅 well done for persevering

@Jane it’s so fascinating how they manage this isn’t it!!! My son is the same. I’ve tried 3 times already this night but during the day he slept through all sorts of environments without an issue
