How do i dry pump parts?

I've been recommended by my midwife to add a pumping session per day to increase milk supply. I've got the mumcozy mobike flow pump... It says to wash sterilise and air dry parts but it just doesn't dry? Id have to leave it overnight or for multiple hours to dry... How do people deal with pumps, help 😅😂😂

If it's sterilised there's no need to dry surely? How are you sterilising it?

In a microwave with the Tommy tippee steriliser, add water and microwave for 5 minutes @Charley

@Julia then it doesn't need to air dry, you can just put it together and use it as long as there's no water on the electrical parts (if it has any)

Thank you! I also just found this that says paper towel is fine https://youtu.be/4M5ygz9If2k

I bought a bottle drying rack and would dry it on there

@Julia yes you could dry with paper towels just be aware it will undo any sterilisation you've done. Some lactation consultants say you don't need to sterilise breastmilk equipment you can just use hot soapy water so that's up to you.

@Becca I've got a bottle drying rack too, but then that's not sterilised? 🥴

@Charley yeah I think I'll take it with a pinch of salt, otherwise it gets a bit ridiculous and impossible to keep things sterile... unless you spend a fortune on like a uv light steriliser or something like that

@Julia I sterilised it (soaked in hot water) daily. If it’s sterile enough for bottles it’s certainly sterile enough for your pump

@Becca just so you know, soaking in hot water is not the same as sterilising. It's perfectly adequate for cleaning breastmilk equipment, but shouldn't be confused with sterilising.

@Julia I think lots of pumps say not to use with UV sterilisers anyway! But as long as you're cleaning any milk residue thoroughly, the sterilising is optional if you're solely using breastmilk. If you do want to sterilise, then making up the pump/bottles straight away rather than leaving to air dry keeps them sterile. But if your baby is not immunocompromised or has pre existing medical conditions id say it's perfectly adequate to wash well and dry when using only breast milk. Formula equipment should be sterilised though

My midwife recommended Milton wipes and it’s been a game changer!

@Charley with my firstborn my health visitor always said soaking in boiling water for 10 mins was sterilising and directed me to the NHS website for instructions on it… lots of mixed advice out there I guess!

@Becca oh yeah boiling for 10 minutes is sufficient to sterilise, but it has to be kept at a rolling boil with the items submerged for the whole 10 minutes. Boiling kettle and then soaking isn't the same

@Charley my wrong wording 😊
