Hitting!

Hi ladies…my baby is about 17 months and recently he has started hitting. I can tell he’s doing it when tired or over/under stimulated and I just do with him how I taught him with the dog…I’ll say no and take his hand to slowly touch me/the dog or I’ll slowly touch his arm and repeat “gentle, nice” but he definitely isn’t understanding it or controlling it as well as he used to which seems a bit like regression to me…or it’s just the toddler coming out. Has anyone else experienced this with their baby this age?

My toddler turned 17m today and yes! She has been waving her hands around hitting 🙃 I know they go through this phase but I also have a 3 week out so it hasn't been fun trying to teach her not to

Hey! My 17 month old started this when she was 16 months and ive also been trying to teach her to be gentle like she has learned to do so with the dog but she just doesn’t want to be gentle when it comes to humans. She hugs when she’s angry or doesn’t get her way and I’m also struggling with teacher not to hit. I went out to eat two days ago and she started hitting me at the restaurant and I felt embarrassed 😂I know it’s normal and it happens but jeez!

Yes it’s awful and he’s so strong! I’ve tried saying no & doing gentle hands. Doesn’t really work, he thinks it’s funny when I say no! . So now I’ll say no hitting the first time and if he does it again I say no hitting that’s not nice, then get up and walk away. Disengage is the best I got 🥴
