🇺🇸 Hey fellow tippers! I need opinions.

I hired a cleaner for my home today. Whole house $375 -minus laundry. Following visits will be $250. She’s independent but brought a friend to help. Happy with the work so far. How much do you tip?

I would never not tip before you come for me

I typically tip around 20% for anything that is a service. I think that’s a good price point!

Since she brought a friend, I'd say tipping between $40 to $60 total would be a nice gesture, maybe split it between the two of them. For the $250 follow-ups, you could do $20 to $40 depending on how thorough the clean is each time. But honestly, tipping is always up to how you feel about the job they did!

@Paige I do to especially for staff with a company. I didn’t know if it was different for independent contractors who are getting 100% of the pay. I’m taking into account they are using their own gas and supplies.

I would do $25-$30.

It’s sad you have to do a disclaimer for the anti tippers 😂

I would give spontaneous tips here and there. Not all the time, I would probably give for the Thanksgiving week, Christmas and New Year's week. Probably $40 tip.

I think if I were to tip, I'd tip 20-30. But I don't think I'd tip for the first clean. I'd probably tip for the later ones since they are cheaper

I have an independent house cleaner and I typically don't tip. She usually brings 1-2 people to help her. After a while I started giving $25 more than she asked (she's amazing!), so maybe that's considered a tip? I also give double around the holidays as a "Christmas gift".

How long are they spending cleaning for this price?

@Emma they’ve been here since 930. It’s almost 4 and they are finishing up. So all day! 5 beds, 4 full baths

Sometimes the contractor doesn't pass the tip along...so I would hand cash to the assistant...10-20 and the if you are satisfied with the work 30-40 for the independent contractor....that way you show the helper appreciation and the contractor is recognized by a larger tip...just my opinion though.

@Brittany right! Bc don’t start with me!

I might even set out some drinks and small snacks. Simple, easy, cheap, and nice gesture. Anytime someone comes to do yard work for me I do it

20% doesn't matter if it was bad service or not. I always tip %20, and I tip more for delivery services

meant 20% not $20

Thanks everyone!

I usually tip 15-20% depending on the service. But sometimes 20% looks cheap asf to me too so I’ll throw in a few more bucks. But 20% of the future $250 cleans is $50 and I’m sure she includes supplies in her pricing if she makes em herself. So I don’t think $20 is a bad tip and $10 can be for the assistant. Then do the $50 for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s bc it’s a known holiday time and she’s still coming to make sure your house is spotless for whatever festivities you’ve got and it’s a nice touch so she can do nice stuff on top without stressing about what bill she might need to cut if her prices don’t bring in a lot of extra for her.

I always tip everyone but my tip is based on your quality of service. I’ve tipped anywhere from $3-$100. If she did what she was supposed to bare minimum effort I’d say $20 or 5% ($18.75 exactly). If she did what she was supposed to do and did it well tip 20% -30% of the $250 ($50-$75). Just keep in mind if the cleaner is completing the same tasks in the same satisfaction you need to keep tipping the same thing so you want to make sure you choose an amount you can maintain.

Curious how big is the house

If it’s a company, I’d tip. For an independent person I don’t because they set their price
