Bloody Milk?

I went to go feed my baby this morning and realized my milk is bloody. Yesterday I did notice my boob hurt however it was nothing to write home about. I read that you can continue to breastfeed with bloody milk. I am just curious has anyone had this? How long did it last? Is it cause for concern?

I haven’t had this, but it’s normally because of cracked nipples/some kind of injury, mastitis, or eczema. If you don’t have any of those I would get checked by a doctor to make sure it’s not a concern

use mi pole butter before and after every feed/ pump !!! sometimes it’s because your nipples are cracked and dried!!

@Sebrina my nipples do not appear to be cracked/ dry nor do they feel that way

@Kassidi i’m thinking since my boob hurt perhaps mastitis?

I had this happen a couple of times when I had my pump set too high. It was gone in a few days. I could still breastfeed but the taste of the bloody milk seemed to bother my son, so we ended up relying on the other breast more during that time.

It could be, mastitis normally comes with flu like symptoms (at least in my experience). A clogged duct will be painful with no other symptoms, but I’m not sure if that’ll cause bloody breastmilk

@Kassidi yes i have had mastitis before in this same breast. i’m thinking perhaps the other symptoms will come
