Do you always lay your baby on his/her back? Or do you combine it with sleeping on their tummy?

I was terrified when reading about SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), I was scared to lay my baby on his stomach to sleep. I do a combination of both back & tummy. Usually short naps on tummy and night time on his back. It helps me get a burp out while on his tummy too & it prevents him from getting startled. But I'm super vigilant when he's sleeping on his stomach . Thoughts šŸ’?

My baby girl has never really liked being on her back since she was born. Where she was really little I used to roll up a blanket and tuck it under her crib sheet so that she was slightly propped up on her side. Once she hit 6 months, it was straight up either tummy or side. If I place her in her bed on her back she'll wake up immediately in a fit. It was nerve wracking for awhile, i either didn't sleep much or set alarms every 10 minutes to get up and check on her .. but now she's about to be a year old I've become comfortable. If anything, I place her down on her tummy and she'll roll onto her back on her own at some point.

Always on their back, because apparently it reduces the risk of SIDS and I'm not going to risk it. That being said, my nearly 9 month old now just immediately rolls onto her stomach

always on her back unless sheā€™s asleep on my chest

Oh, for naps? You can sleep bub on their tummy for naps if it's supervised. You just have to make sure they can breathe.

Once my daughter started sleeping on her front around 7 months old there was absolutely no stopping her. Every night and every nap even if we went in to roll her back she would cry and roll onto her front again. Even to this day we still always lie her on her back but she immediately rolls onto her front. Sheā€™s 15 months old now so I donā€™t worry anymore but when it first started happening I literally couldnā€™t sleep as I was so terrified šŸ¤£ but my girl is for sure a tummy sleeper!!

If your baby has strong enough head and upper body control to push up on their arms and flip their head from right to left Iā€™d say tummy is safe. My midwife said some babies even sleep better on tummy. Until then, or if they are sick Iā€™d avoid tummy sleep. Never on tummy swaddled.

I place her on her back, she turns and sleeps on her stomach. There is nothing that can be done, but I try.

Always on tummy, been on tummy since 7 weeks

I always laid both on their backs, my daughter would never move until she was almost 12 m, my son on the other hand.... He's 3 weeks and since day 1 he will turn on his side šŸ„“

My sons pediatrician said as long as baby has the capability to roll themselves in and out of the position they end up in & their airways are unobstructed then itā€™s a-okay to let them lay on their tummy (: my son is a sleep dancer just like me lolol we move around a lot

@Eryn my baby is super strong. He is starting to control his little head better thanks to tummy time. ā˜ŗļøHe manages tummy sleeps well and is able to move his little head from side to side. I'm always watching him too. šŸ¢

Back or side with a blanket to support. My mum swore by the side as if they puke it comes out. By a few weeks old she started to roll her self onto her side anyway

My daughter is very much a tummy and side sleeper. I always put her on her back due to anxiety but if she's alone she's rolling to her tummy, but if she's next to me she'll roll towards me in her sleep to find the boob lol
